Woman 'Ready for Ferguson' Accidentally Kills Self With Own Gun

A 26-year-old St. Louis-area woman is dead after accidentally shooting herself in the head with the gun she bought to protect herself from anticipated Ferguson riots.

According to CNN, Becca Campbell died on Friday night after a minor car accident resulted in a major gun accident.

[Campbell’s boyfriend] told investigators that as they drove late Friday night, the victim waved a gun, jokingly saying the couple were ready for Ferguson, the sources said.
He ducked to get out of the way of the gun and accidentally rear-ended another car. He said the accident caused the gun to go off and she was struck by a bullet in the head, the sources said.

A grand jury is expected to announce in coming weeks whether or not they plan to indict Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson, the man who shot and killed unarmed teenager Mike Brown back in August. Legal experts have noted in recent days that, given what has leaked about the case, it seems unlikely that a grand jury will side against Wilson. Organizers and activists have indicated that it’s fair to expect that once this decision is handed down, justice-minded residents of Ferguson will voice their discontent by protesting. Pundits and wild-eyed speculators have taken this assumption in a racist direction, whipping the St. Louis area into a paranoid froth about a rising tide of black violence just waiting to be unleashed. According to CNN, gun sales in the area have spiked in the runup to the grand jury’s decision, as people concerned about Ferguson-related violence are buying up firearms left and right. Becca Campbell was one of them.

That’s a lot of speculation to accidentally shoot yourself in the head over.
