There is one thing we can reliably expect from Trump’s White House, and it is an almost pathological inability to spell.
Here’s all the shit we couldn’t cover today:
- Walter Shaub, who recently resigned as the head of the Office of Government Ethics after six months of tangling with a historically uncooperative president who appears to be profiting from his office, told the New York Times that “I think we are pretty close to a laughingstock at this point.” Walter—I think you’re right! The White House retorted that “Mr. Schaub [sic] is not interested in advising the executive branch on ethics. He’s interested in grandstanding and lobbying for more expansive powers in the office he holds.” [The New York Times]
- A district court ruled that grandparents from the six countries included in Trump’s travel ban are now eligible for visas in an updated definition of “close family.” Also included now are grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins. [Reuters]
- During “Made in America Week,” the Department of Homeland Security has announced an increase of 15,000 additional visas for low-wage seasonal workers following intense industry lobbying. [Washington Post]
- Sen. Patty Murray, the ranking Democrat on the Senate education committee, is calling for the ouster of civil rights disaster Candice Jackson. [Washington Post]
- John McCain’s recent surgery that’s been keeping him from the healthcare vote may have actually been pretty serious. [New York Times]
- Kellyanne Conway, who is anti-feminist except when she can use its boundaries to further her personal interests, has declared once again that criticism against her is “gender-based.” [The Hill]
- Help! Us! [WSJ]
