What Do You Dread Most About The Holiday Season?

Latest

As you’re all very, very aware, plenty of people adore everything about the holiday season. From the cinnamon-coated lattes to 9,000 types of pie, they have very few complaints about any of the potential hassles that may accompany the holiday-themed baked goods. And I have no problem with those people. But then there are the rest of us.

Even if you consider yourself more on the side of love than loathe, if you ask enough people you’re bound to get a few who have some less than cheery things to say about this time of year and while I’m not one to encourage bitching for the sake of bitching, I think it’s a good idea to be reminded that you’re not the only one who thinks this time of year can be kind of a pain in the ass for a variety of reasons.

Whether it’s because you don’t have the relationship with your family that you’re “supposed” to have around this thing we know as ChristmasHanEtcTime or your religious beliefs don’t include one of the generally recognized celebrations, rituals, and rites, I think it’s pretty normal to feel a bit left out of all of the intoxicating cheer from time to time.

So I ask you, Saturday readers. If you’re all too aware of the pitfalls of the most wonderful time of the year, I’d love to hear what you think they are.

And hopefully in the process it’ll create a comforting amount of evidence that you’re not the only one whose rose-colored holiday glasses appear to be on backorder. Because I assure you, you’re not.
