According to NJ.com, the Rutgers University Programming Association paid the Jersey Shore nymphet $32,000 to speak to students Thursday. The Pulitzer-winner, meanwhile, netted $30 grand when she agreed to give the commencement address.

In fairness, the above-quoted number is just Snooki’s typical fee; we can’t know that the Rutgers Student Association coughed that up.

So, how will they stack up? Toni Morrison is famous for quotes like, “At some point in life the world’s beauty becomes enough. You don’t need to photograph, paint, or even remember it. It is enough.”

And as for Snooki’s address? Here’s how the Hollywood Reporter described it.

During her Q&A Thursday, Snooki sat in an upholstered chair (with her feet dangling) on a bare stage and told students, “My feet can’t touch the ground. Awkward!”
Asked to give advice to Rutgers students, she said, “Study hard, but party harder.”
Not everyone walked away inspired.
“Such a waste of my money,” freshman Dan Oliveto, 18, told the paper.
“If I want to listen to someone talk, they should have something intelligent to say.”

This obviously says something incredibly depressing about our society, so let’s not examine it too closely. Let’s just remember that before Snooki, it was Morrison’s fee that made headlines. Let’s pretend the second part didn’t happen.
