In case you haven't cried or teared up enough today, I present you with trailer for You're Not You featuring Hilary Swank as a patient suffering from ALS, Lou Gehrig's disease, and Emmy Rossum as her unexpectedly talented caregiver. Cue all the feels and that thing in your eye that doubles as an excuse for tears at your desk.

I really like Emmy Rossum :)

I have a feel good ALS story. My kind, sweet, and super loving Aunt Beth had ALS five years ago and she was in the final stages of the disease where most of her body shut down but you could tell that she was still very much aware of everything around her. I had just adopted my little dog from the local shelter and since I knew she was also a dog-lover, my dad and I brought him with us to visit her in hospice. Her eyes lit up as soon as we entered her room and even though she couldn't speak, I could tell that she wanted to have a formal greeting with my pup. I put him on her lap and he pushed his nose up against her nose and licked her face a little. He was incredibly gentle with her, almost like he knew that she was sick. All of the sudden she started petting his head and rubbing his ears and she whispered to him... "I love you. I love you. I love you." Then he just curled up on her lap for a while. That's all she said the entire time we were there and it was MAGICAL. My dad and I cried quietly as we watched her fall in love with my dog and I'll never forget it. That was the last time I saw her and it was truly amazing.

Dogs have this special power with people who are dealing with health issues and it's really indescribable until you witness it personally.
