Turtle Photobombs Photo, Reminds Us Who Is the Star

Latest

You may think this turtle was casually swimming by, doing what turtles do, when it unknowingly got caught in the middle of this group picture and photobombed it much to our collective delight. Let’s be real here, that turtle knew what it was doing. Look at that coy side-eye. It basically heard a bunch of humans was on its turf, then swamp up to the surface to say, “Betches, I’m heeeere!”

Marine researcher Diovanie de Jesus and friends were posing for a photo at Apo Island in the Philippines when the sea turtle snuck into their photo. “This is a reminder that humans and creatures like this gentle pawikan can co-exist,” he says in a blog post detailing the moment. According to The Huffington Post, many sea turtles are endangered due them being poached for their eggs, meat, skin and shells. Habitat destruction and climate change also play a part in the decrease of the sea turtle population. Apo Island is home to one of world’s most successful community-based marine sanctuaries.
