To Prevent Hangovers, Stop Drinking

New Year’s Eve is quickly approaching, so it’s time for the media to remind everyone that their ridiculous hangover cure won’t work. This year Dr. Aaron Michelfelder of the Loyola University Health System says that “hair of the dog,” i.e. drinking more to cure your hangover, actually only makes the symptoms worse.

So how can you prevent a hangover? Michelfelder recommends that women have no more than three drinks in a three-hour period, eat beforehand, and have a glass of water between drinks. The next day you can take a B vitamin, drink water, and exercise. In other words, don’t get drunk and do all that healthy stuff you hate doing.
