TLC Aired a 19 Kids & Counting Marathon As Duggar Molestation News Broke

Things moved fast yesterday, once In Touch released a police report containing molestation accusations against Josh Duggar, eldest of the Duggar kids.

The Duggar camp released statements from Josh, Anna, and Jim Bob and Michelle on their official Facebook page. Josh confessed that “as a young teenager I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret,” continued, “I hurt others, including my family and close friends,” and added that, “We spoke with the authorities where I confessed my wrongdoing.” (Though he didn’t go into any more detail about what he’d done.) The conservative, anti-gay Family Research Council quickly announced his resignation.

Meanwhile, US Weekly reports, TLC was showing several hours of 19 Kids and Counting. And that, my friends, is why somebody always gets stuck back at the office on a holiday weekend:

There are more episodes set to air later this morning, but I suspect you’ll get Say Yes to the Dress if you actually tune in. The writing’s pretty much on the wall, Mama June’s fussing about the supposed double standard notwithstanding. Meanwhile, as the Raw Story points out, all those Republicans who were all-too-willing to lean in for a photo with Josh when the Duggars were conservative America’s pro-life sweethearts are probably having some regrets right now.
