Tina Fey Takes You Inside The Hidden World Of Girls

"From the dunes of the Sahara to a slumber party in Manhattan, from the dancehalls of Jamaica to a racetrack in Ramallah, Tina Fey takes us around the world into the secret life of girls and the women they become. Sound-rich, evocative, funny, and powerful—stories of coming of age, rituals and rites of passage, secret identities. Of women who crossed a line, blazed a trail, changed the tide."

If that doesn't sound like the best use of the next two hours of your life, I don't know what does.

But if you still need some extra incentive to listen to this, Tina Fey is doing a pretty killer "soothing NPR voice" throughout the series and I want to fall asleep to there.

I just listened to the first hour and it was amazing. I was about to start the second one, but my friend called and I have to meet her in half an hour. Grrr. I loved the story of the Irish Travellers and the Brave Hearts! I had no idea about either of them. Thanks Jez for always bringing wonderful women's stories into my life. Those were very awe inspiring.

I even liked the single telephone call from the girl who told the story about how her mother has a 'coming of age makeup party for her and her three sisters when they all turned 13. I wish I had something like that in my past, but unfortunately my family has nothing like this. If I had daughters I'd definitely begin a tradition with them. It's beautiful bonding experience.

And how crazy are those Traveller weddings? I immediately looked them up after the girl started talking about their elaborate dresses. Love it! Can't wait to get back home so I can listen to the second hour.
