This Cat Documentary Kedi Will Be Way Better Than Keanu

The trailer for this cat documentary Kedi, about street cats in Istanbul, truly warmed my heart. I hate to be smarmy and predict that watching it will make you emotional, too, but it will. And you will love it.

Walking cats. Sleeping cats. Thinking cats. Watching the trailer, you have to remind yourself that cats aren’t people, but could be. It really starts to choke you up toward the middle, with shots from the felines’ perspective paired tenderly with the soundtrack of Vashti Bunyan’s “I’d Like to Walk Around in Your Mind.”

Here’s the documentary description via Apple (the film comes out February 17, 2017):

Hundreds of thousands of Turkish cats roam the metropolis of Istanbul freely. For thousands of years they’ve wandered in and out of people’s lives, becoming an essential part of the communities that make the city so rich. Claiming no owners, the cats of Istanbul live between two worlds, neither wild nor tame—and they bring joy and purpose to those people they choose to adopt. In Istanbul, cats are the mirrors to the people, allowing them to reflect on their lives in ways nothing else could.

“Wow” is what you’ll say, I promise.

One Way Monkey

This film looks extraordinary and in the spirit of celebrating cats and the people who love them, may I introduce Moshow to the conversation?

I saw this on Twitter a couple of days ago and it made me think...for a split second...we’re all going to be okay:
