The Absolutely Fabulous Movie Is Finally Filming: Here's Photographic Proof

Remember in 2011 when you heard Absolutely Fabulous, BBC’s hit show about hangers-on, would become a movie? And then last January, when writer Jennifer Saunders confirmed that she’d finished the script? Now there’s proof that it’s all really happening, sweetie dahhhling.

Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie, starring Saunders and Joanna Lumley in their original roles as Edina and Patsy from the ’90s coke-and-cigarettes-dipped series, has officially begun shooting. The cast and crew are on location in France for seven weeks, according to Entertainment Weekly, as the script “sees the pair forced to flee to the French Riviera after being blamed for a major incident at an uber-fashionable launch party.”

Sounds about right.

Die-hard fans will be happy to know that Edina’s brainy daughter Saffy (played by Julia Sawalha), mother (played by June Whitfield), and personal assistant Bubble (played by Jane Horrocks) will be are returning to the film as well.

The film will hit theaters in 2016, with the word still out on whether or not Idris Elba will reprise his role as a rent boy.
