Now that women’s boxing will be an Olympic Sport, Thai women stand to benefit: they’ve already overcome being told that women are a curse upon stadiums and that women aren’t supposed to lift their legs in the air.

Another belief: that women menstruating will mess with all the charms and amulets surrounding the ring.

By the way, there’s a particularly badass boxer whose name translates as, “Steaming Pain.” But the best (okay, meanest) part is when the coach has his women boxers line up and laugh at the men while they practice.
