Though several photographs of an inflatable slide outside her Rhode Island home this weekend suggested Taylor Swift’s annual 4th of July extravaganza would be business as usual this year, the party was considerably more low-key than normal. Gigi wasn’t there, Karlie wasn’t there, her new boyfriend Joe wasn’t there, and it sorta seems like Taylor herself wasn’t there!
There were no career-destroying “I <3 T.S.” tank tops, no guests who can only be described as “aspiring Instagram models,” no awkward couple photos, and no women named Rachel Platten singing “Fight Song.” Remember all of this?
Instead of screaming young people in their most patriotic swimwear, there were silent older ones in grays and muted greens. For a while it was just one guy (Swift’s father?) sitting alone by an unlit fire pit. Then this woman (Swift’s mother?) showed up:

So Ed Sheeran quit Twitter because he couldn’t deal with all the haters who may or may not have been Lady Gaga fans who misinterpreted one of his recent interviews as Gaga shade [deep breath], so Gaga intervened and told her Little Monsters to cool it.
In an Instagram caption, she wrote:
What an incredible talented artist I LOVE ED @teddysphotos deserves all our love and respect like all humans do. I wish all people on the internet would be positive and loving and apart of creating an online community that is kind and empowering, not hateful and mean. No reason to tear down an artist simply because they are on top. Work harder to be kinder everybody. That should be your first duty to humanity.
While I agree that no one should bully Ed Sheeran personally, I think there is still considerable room for more negative comments about “Shape of You.”
