Subway Groper Shot By Off-Duty Cop

Latest

A man who groped two young women’s butts in a Harlem subway station wound up getting shot in the lower back when an off-duty police officer tried to arrest him. Officer Jason Butler got involved when a woman started calling for police because her 13-year-old daughter had been groped. Then an 18-year-old said she’d been touched too and pointed to 22-year-old Jacob Sanford, who was sitting on a bench. Butler showed his badge and tried to arrest Sanford, but they got into a fight and Sanford managed to lift Butler off the platform. Butler fired one shot because he was afraid that Sanford was about to throw him into the path of an oncoming train. Sanford was taken to a hospital and is in stable condition. He has 19 arrests, including two charges of assaulting police officers, and has admitted to the two gropings.
