Court documents show that Dominique Strauss-Kahn initially tried to claim diplomatic immunity when he was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a hotel maid, calling into question the defense's argument that he had consensual sex with her. Then, confusingly, he rescinded his claim, saying, "No, no, no, I'm not trying to use that." He also complained, "These handcuffs are tight."

I'm not sure that claiming diplomatic immunity throws suspicion on his claim of consensual sex, especially since all he had been told at that point was that he was being arrested in relation to an incident at a hotel. He did have qualified diplomatic immunity for official actions.

I should make clear I think he's guilty as hell.
