Yesterday Nafissatou Diallo's lawyer, Kenneth P. Thompson, said he plans to ask a judge to disqualify the Manhattan district attorney's office and appoint a special prosecutor to the Dominique Strauss-Kahn sexual assault case. Thompson says the district attorney's office handled the case poorly and mistreated Diallo, but legal experts say he still has no authority to ask for a special prosecutor. Stephen Gillers, a professor at New York University Law School, tells the New York Times, "It's what we call an A.O.D.: an act of desperation ... She may benefit from a successful prosecution, but she has no legal interest in the prosecution."
