Stem Cells Used To Create Sperm

Illustration for article titled Stem Cells Used To Create Sperm

Japanese scientists say they've taken a "hugely exciting" step forward in the treatment of male infertility. After implanting sperm cells made from embryonic stem cells into infertile mice, the animals were able to father healthy offspring. The researchers hope to someday create sperm from the skin cells of infertile men.

In theory, they can use skin cells of infertile men to make sperm that would be put back into the infertile men to make them fertile.

Okay, so somewhere down the line would it be possible that the sperm made from skin cells (or bone marrow etc) could come from a biologically born female? If placed in a dude incubator of sorts? Then used to fertilze an egg in vitro?

My FTM boyfriend and I would like to know.
