Spike Lee Endorses Brother Bernie Sanders in An Effort to Do the Thing That's Right

Politics

Spike Lee is waking people up with the sound of his soothing voice in a new campaign radio ad endorsing Bernie Sanders.

“Waaaake up! Wake up, South Carolina!” Lee yells in the ad, referencing one his cinematic signatures. The director keeps it colloquial while spelling out the reasons he’s supporting Brother Bernie.

“This is your dude, Spike Lee. And I know that you know the system is rigged! And for too long we’ve given our votes to corporate puppets. Sold the okie doke. Ninety-nine percent of Americans were hurt by the Great Recession of 2008, and many are still recovering.”

Besides laying out the economic advantages of a Sanders presidency, Lee also cites the candidate’s civil rights record in the ad.

“That’s why I am officially endorsing my brother, Bernie Sanders. Bernie takes no money from corporations. Nada. Which means he’s not on the tape. And when Bernie gets into the White House, he will do the right thing!”

How can we be sure?

“How can we be sure?” says Lee. “Bernie was at the March on Washington with Dr. King. He was arrested in Chicago for protesting segregation in public schools. He fought for wealth and education equality throughout his whole career.”

The ad ends with a nice jab: “Paid for by Bernie 2016, not the billionaires.”
