I’ve always had an affinity for Selma Blair for three reasons: a) I still joke that her kiss with Sarah Michelle Gellar in Cruel Intentions turned me gay, b) she was cousins with a girl I went to Jewish sleepaway camp with, so I was certain that one day she would show up for Visitor’s Day (she never did), and c) the holy glory that is Legally Blonde. This being said, it gives me no pleasure to tell you the following about my one true lesbian root.
During a flight from Cancun—where Blair had been vacationing with her ex-partner Jason Bleick and their son Arthur—to Los Angeles on Monday, the actress was subdued by two nurses after she began “screaming uncontrollably” after accidentally mixing her medication with alcohol.
As TMZ reported, “the nurses—one standing over her and one seated—propped her head up with a pillow and gave her oxygen to calm her down.”
When the flight landed in Los Angeles, Blair was immediately taken to a nearby hospital on a stretcher.
The following day, Blair issued an official statement about the incident in an exclusive with Vanity Fair, in which she apologized to her fellow passengers for her unanticipated behavior:
“I made a big mistake yesterday. After a lovely trip with my son and his Dad, I mixed alcohol with medication, and that caused me to black out and led me to say and do things that I deeply regret. My son was with his Dad asleep with his headphones on, so there is that saving grace. I take this very seriously, and I apologize to all of the passengers and crew that I disturbed and am thankful to all of the people who helped me in the aftermath. I am a flawed human being who makes mistakes and am filled with shame over this incident. I am truly very sorry.”

The untimely death of 27-year-old Star Trek actor Anton Yelchin has officially been ruled accidental.
According to Los Angeles County’s Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter, Yelchin’s cause of death was “blunt traumatic asphyxiation.”
The actor, who was known for his starring turns in the comedy Charlie Bartlett and indie film Like Crazy, was found pinned between his car and a brick mailbox outside of his San Fernando Valley home in the early hours of Sunday, June 19.
Notably, Yelchin’s vehicle was a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, which was recalled by manufacturers in April due to its faulty gearshift design. As Jalopnik reported, the model has been linked to 41 injuries related to rollaways.
“We are looking into that,” a spokesperson for the LAPD told the press. “The investigation is still ongoing and the traffic detectives will look at all of those factors as they would in any traffic collision investigation. So, at this time we’re not sure what caused it, but that’s something investigators are looking at.” [People]
