Sarah Palin Uses Classic Jury Duty Excuse To Get Out Of Bus Tour

Latest

Sarah Palin has put her bus tour on hold because she has jury duty. This is also why she can’t come to your birthday party, and why her TPS reports were not filed on time.

The Telegraph points us to Palin’s most recent Facebook note, which states, in part,

Imagine our surprise when reading media reports today that the “One Nation Tour” has been cancelled. Why didn’t anyone tell me? Oh, wait, that’s because it hasn’t been cancelled. (Good ol’ media… you never cease to amaze!)
As I said myself at the end of the east coast leg of the tour, the summer is long, and I’m looking forward to hitting the open road again. The coming weeks are tight because civic duty calls (like most everyone else, even former governors get called up for jury duty) and I look forward to doing my part just like every other Alaskan.

Palin hasn’t exactly been known for answering the call of duty in the past, and you can’t just quit a jury in the middle of a case. You can, however, quit a bus tour — is it possible that Palin just needs a breather to deal with the fallout from her daughter’s date rape allegations against Levi Johnston? If that’s not the case, and her jury duty excuse is real, she may want to refer to Alaska’s Trial Jury Handbook. One little tip:

For security reasons, weapons are not permitted in courthouses. Some examples of things you should not bring to court are: firearms, knives of any size, other sharp objects, and chemical agents such as mace, bear spray and other forms of pepper spray.

Sorry, Sarah — leave the bear spray at home.
