Sarah Michelle Gellar Doesn't Know Anything About Buffy the Vampire Slayer

SheKnows, a community that “empowers women,” decided to interrogate Sarah Michelle Gellar about Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and frankly, I don’t feel very empowered after watching it.

For every wrong answer Buffy gives, her friend Galit Laibow, founder of Foodstirs, has to chew on a piece of gum. They don’t really ask enough questions for Laibow to become a drooling jaw-distended mess, but that’s the direction things were going. Celebrities are just like us: they don’t give a shit about their old jobs!

It makes sense that Gellar doesn’t know some of the production-related trivia, such as how many times the theme song was re-recorded, but when she is asked to identify a quote—a series-defining, desperately romantic quote— from a scene she was literally in, she attributes it to being about Xander and Cordelia. Really?! REALLY?! It’s about you and Angel, the fictional love of your life, for chrissakes!

If you’re a fan, you know what I’m talking about. Obviously, Sarah Michelle Gellar has no idea.

I used to love Angel as a 14 year old (the character) and now at 31 I’m like, wow he was a dick. He improved on his own show (and was meant to be a very flawed anti-hero so it worked), but on Buffy he was a dick and/or uninteresting. Funny how things change in 15 years lol. I also loved Spike and still have some love though it’s hard to get over the rape episode. And I hated the other bf (the human one who was also a secret agent ugh Riley).

Basically, as with all teen heroines, I ended up being Team No One because the heroes we generally write/create for our heroines are bullshit. Hence my love for Jessica Jones - the true love story of that show was Jessica and Trish. Long live Jessica and Trish!
