For a guy who grew up in Canada and later moved to Florida, we've never quite been able to pinpoint what, exactly, Ryan Gosling's accent is supposed to sound like. Obviously, it sounds generally like sex, but it always sounds slightly different. What gives?

Gosling admitted to W magazine that he's not 100% sure what his accent is, either, and he kind of just...fakes it:

"As a kid I decided that a Canadian accent doesn't sound tough. I thought guys should sound like Marlon Brando. So now I have a phony accent that I can't shake, so it's not phony anymore."

I feel your pain, Ryan. I was born in Scotland, and by the time I turned 21 I'd lived in Libya, America, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Thailand, and London. Plus I went to a very proper British boarding school, at which I managed to pick up a rather plummy tone. And now I live in California.

No one can ever figure out where the hell I'm from. Third Culture kids - confusing people since we first began to exist.
