Rudd and Poehler Become Rom Com Royalty in They Came Together

Hooray! The official trailer for They Came Together, the rom com parody starring Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler, has finally arrived! Move over Harry and Sally. Poehler and Rudd are about to become the most iconic rom com couple of all time.

Co-written by David Wain (who also directed) and Michael Showalter, the film boasts a fantastic supporting cast that includes Ken Marino, Kenan Thompson, Ellie Kemper, Jason Mantzoukas and Christopher Meloni. Based on the preview alone, I'd say the movie definitely captures the silly and carefree spirit Wain and Showalter's previous work, such as The State and Wet Hot American Summer.

Previously, Wain described They Came Together thusly:

I teamed up with Michael Showalter to take on a topic that (to our knowledge) has yet been seen in the movies: ROMANCE — particularly heterosexual romance between two white people.

Our next idea was to mix this romance story with humor - so you could almost call this a Romantic-Comedy, so to speak.

Groundbreaking stuff.

This movie looks simply delightful.

It looks like what Wet Hot American Summer was: brilliantly funny as a parody trailer, but torment of the damned as an actual 90 minute movie you have to sit through.
