This 1968 episode of Hugh Hefner's bizarre time-capsule "Playboy After Dark" becomes melancholy when you realize that within a year Sharon Tate would be murdered, that Roman Polanski would be...Roman Polanski, and that Hef, 40 years on, is identical. [True/Slant]
I have such mixed feelings about Hef. On one hand, he's a totally disgusting human being who views women as commodities to be exploited. On the other hand, his magazine gave some of my favorite writers a voice when they were struggling to get published anywhere.
