Robin Roberts Reveals She Is Gay In Facebook Post

Latest

Robin Roberts, Good Morning America anchor, publicly came out on Sunday, via a touching Facebook post thanking fans, family and her longtime girlfriend, Amber Laign, for their support during recent health battles.

The post marks the first time the popular television host has acknowledged publicly that she is gay. Roberts shared the photo above and expressed gratitude and joy over her good health:

At this moment I am at peace and filled with joy and gratitude.

I am grateful to God, my doctors and nurses for my restored good health.

I am grateful for my sister, Sally-Ann, for being my donor and giving me the gift of life.

I am grateful for my entire family, my long time girlfriend, Amber, and friends as we prepare to celebrate a glorious new year together.

I am grateful for the many prayers and well wishes for my recovery. I return every one of them to you 100 fold.

On this last Sunday of 2013 I encourage you to reflect on what you are grateful for too.

Wishing you a Healthy and Happy New Year.

Roberts battled breast cancer in 2008 and in 2012. She had a bone marrow transplant last to treat myelodysplastic syndrome, a blood disorder. Sunday, (when she shared the post) marked the one year anniversary of the day she reached 100 days post transplant, on 12/29/12. Oh and that day was also the happy day she was allowed to have her dog, KJ, come back home after the surgery, which is why she shared that super happy pic of her with her beloved pup!

Congratulations on being healthy and happy!
