Burger King has a new strategy that involves attracting moms by jumping on the marginally healthy bandwagon — and that means dumping the “King” character. Ads for the limited edition California Whopper (made with guacamole, Swiss cheese, and bacon) will launch this weekend and feature only shots of fresh ingredients being prepared.

We won’t miss you, King, but your memory will live on. And someday our children will stumble on one of your commercials while searching the YouTube of the future and they’ll be confused and a little frightened, just as we once were.
