Pawlenty Gets Glitterbombed

Republican presidential candidate Tim Pawlenty has a reputation for being dull, so getting glitter dumped on him could only help his luster. On the other hand, he was getting called out for anti-woman and anti-gay positions, so… even.

Pawlenty’s book is called Courage To Stand, so the Code Pink activists demanded to know where his courage was to stand on reproductive rights and gay rights. They note alongside the video,

If elected, GOP Presidential candidate said he would reinstate Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell (the ban on openly-gay service). He vetoed a bill in MN that would have allowed surviving partners of same-sex couples the right to decide what to do with their loved one’s deceased body, because he believes in “traditional marriage”.

He also bragged about being the most effective pro-life legislator onstage at the first Republican debate, pointing to this article by the editor-in-chief of Life News. His record includes adding extra restrictions and waiting periods for women under the guise of a “Woman’s Right To Know Act,” passing an early “fetal pain” law, public funding for crisis pregnancy centers, and a statewide “Abortion Recovery” Month in April 2010.
