Pantone Made a Purple Shade for Prince

Latest

Prince’s affinity for the color purple throughout his career has led to a tribute-slash-branding-opportunity for Pantone. They’ve chosen to name a custom shade of purple after him.

The shade is called Love Symbol #2 (the name Prince used for his famous symbol), and out of all the purples in the world, this is probably the best one. Created in collaboration with Prince’s estate, this new shade is based on the color of his famous Yamaha piano. In a statement, Pantone VP Laurie Pressman described the color as “emblematic of Prince’s distinctive style.” Variety reports that Prince’s estate “is in conversation with various partners about collaboration on products that incorporate the custom color.”
