According to new research, annual screenings for ovarian cancer would only reduce the cancer's mortality rate by 11%. No currently-available screening program was proven to save lives, as the disease is rare and tends to spread without causing symptoms.

I have Stage IV ovarian cancer. Even without effective screening, it would have been nice to know about the drawbacks and benefits of hormonal birth control as a way to minimize my risk.
