Our Favorite Mortician Celebrates Krampus With Morbid Gifts

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Caitlin Doughty of Ask A Mortician fame (yes, FAME) visited Mike Zohn at Obscura Antiques in New York City's East Village to "shop" for "gifts." Carved skulls, sea roaches, diaphonized rats and dental articulators ahoy!

Caitlin points out: "Keep in mind, Mike is a professional, so he has a permit for all antique human & animal remains in his possession."

Crystal Revelation and Punkin. OMG.

The skull at the beginning gives me uncomfortable feelings of the "how did that actual skull come to be in a store" and "legacies of colonialism :-/" sort.

And Mike is totally right: they are seabugs. Gross, creepy, bottom-feeding seabugs.
