Online Demand Brings Goosebump-Inducing 'Girl Rising' to Theaters

Have you heard about Girl Rising, a unique documentary that is also kind of a reenactment? Narrated by big-name actresses like Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Salma Hayek, Frieda Pinto, Meryl Streep and Kerry Washington, the film is not just a film but a global campaign; the organizers explain: "We use the power of storytelling and the leverage of strategic partnerships to deliver a single message: educating girls in developing nations will change the world."

Deadline Hollywood reports that up until now, the film was only available via on-demand theatrical distribution. But since it was getting tens of thousands of screening requests, Regal Cinemas decided to distribute the film nationwide, starting April 19. And: A portion of all ticket sales at Regal Cinemas, United Artists and Edwards Theatres will go to the 10×10 Fund for Girls Education.

Check out the trailer… It gave me goosebumps.

I'm disappointed in myself that I expected this to be about R. L. Stine. Sorry everyone, global citizenship fail.
