Obvious Child Is the Abortion Rom-Com We've All Been Waiting For

Here’s the trailer for Obvious Child, the soon-to-be-released romantic comedy about a comedian named Donna (Jenny Slate) who, following a bad breakup, goes home with a guy who she meets at a bar and gets pregnant. Unlike with most comedies of that ilk, however, Donna decides to get an abortion.

Obvious Child (which co-stars Gaby Hoffmann, Jake Lacey and always funny Gabe Liedman) is directed by Gillian Robespierre (who also co-wrote the film) and is the feature length version of her tender and funny short of the same name. (The short film version has unfortunately been scrubbed from the internet.)

Based on the trailer and persistent charm of Jenny Slate, Obvious Child looks like a must-see — if only to put our money where our mouths are after all that complaining about Knocked Up.
