I’m just going to get this out of the way and say it: Sue Shefman is my hero. If you don’t know her by now, you will soon: the weekend edition of ABC’s World News Tonight featured a piece on Suefman and her extreme love of the hippopotamus and odds are high that TLC is already banging down this woman’s door to give her a reality show. Here’s why: the woman is not only obsessed with anything hippo-related (trinkets, clothes, figurines) but has an SUV that’s been given eyes, a mouth, and a tail so that it looks like an actual hippo. She may be the first hippo hoarder we’ve ever heard of, but she also seems to be a good person. Think about it: who else would drive around town in a hippo-mobile around town and uses her remote control to whistle and wink at random people walking down the street? Of this, she says, “I’m not a doctor, I don’t do anything like that to help people. But I make people smile.” Indeed you do, Sue Shefman, indeed you do.
