No, Fox News. Female Breadwinners Are Not 'A Problem.'

Folks, society has A Problem. The Problem is that women are winning too much bread versus the men, who themselves wish to win the most bread. In the contest of the winning of the bread, women sometimes win. This might lead to divorce because cavemen but also maybe not because social progress. There. I just summarized a Sunday morning Fox News show for you.

When I first heard about this (because I am not wasting a Sunday morning programming designed for this country's Most Terrified And Crotchety when I could instead be spending that time sleeping, eating, having sex, or sitting on the edge of my bed staring at a wall), I thought that maybe web outlets were overstating its stupidity. Nope!

Here's an excerpt of that segment as transcribed by Media Matters:

CLAYTON MORRIS: Is there a problem with men earning less than women in the household, and do you think that it could throw off — that it actually could cause big marital problems?

I get the cultural argument, guys. I mean, I can see how — we can all weave our way through cultural issues. But isn't there some sort of biological, innate need for men to be the caveman? Go out and bring home the dinner and actually go out — Is it emasculating if we don't do it?

And this is why people should be required to apply for a license before dropping evolutionary psychological factoids in discussions on modern-day sexism.

Snacktastic Part III: the Return of the Spatula

What I always hated was that I grew up as the daughter of a divorced woman who had the sole responsibility for raising the three of us. She once got passed up for a promotion because—in the words of the hiring manager at the time, "Well, [this man] has a family to feed."

OH REALLY. Because women never have to provide for anyone. APPARENTLY.

Fuck. And we really needed that fucking money b/c she was barely making over minimum wage and we were as broke as shit.
