Nick Cannon Blessed the Impending Pete Davidson and Ariana Grande Union

Latest

In an interview with ET Canada—which is, in this writer’s opinion, the most essential iteration of ET—media renaissance man Nick Cannon revealed his part in the recent whirlwind romance between SNL star Pete Davidson and pop queen/nemesis of enunciation Ariana Grande.

“He called before he was going to do it, and I said, ‘Salud!’” the former Mr. Mariah Carey said. “He was really excited, so I was like, ‘I love it, man. Keep it going.’ Love is in the air!”

Nick Cannon taking [partial] responsibility for someone else’s achievements would surprise me even if he had no connection with that person, but—shocker!—there is an actual relationship here! Cannon (who, like Grande, came of age on Nickelodeon) became a mentor of sorts to Davidson around five years ago, when the comedian appeared on his MTV show Wild ‘N Out. “A lot of people don’t know Pete Davidson is someone I introduced to entertainment,” Cannon said, sharing that Davidson called in to his radio show when he was 15 and told a joke that impressed him so much that Cannon took Davidson “on the road” with him.

He added:

“To see them together… and I’ve been one of those dudes with one of those fantasy, fantastic relationships where you just go off and get married, so I was like, ‘Do it.’ … I’ve congratulated Pete. I haven’t spoken to Ariana, but I’m happy for them.”

The noise you just heard was me moaning in ecstasy while reading that final sentence. It’s bliss.
