A Las Vegas nail salon owner was killed over a $35 manicure after a customer who fled without paying hit her with a stolen rental car.

Nhu ā€œAnnieā€ Ngoc Quynh Nguyen, a Vietnamese refugee, gave a manicure to am unidentified female customer on Saturday; when the woman attempted to pay with a credit card, it was declined.Ā According to theĀ Las Vegas Review-Journal, the customer claimed she was going to go retrieve the money from her car:

Nguyen called [her partner] Chung over and the couple followed the woman outside to try to stop her from leaving. The glass in the back window of the black, newer-model Chevrolet Camaro, which police have said was a rental car, was broken out, and Nguyen tried to hold on to the frame of the rear windshield, near the trunk, Chung said.

ā€œMy wife ran out and tried to stop her, and then she rolled forward,ā€ he said of the woman in the car.

Police said the driver hit Nguyen and dragged her before fleeing the area.Ā

A GoFundMe page describes Nguyen as a single mother of three girls who ā€œhad been constantly putting in 12-14 hrs a day, 7 days a week to send her daughters to college and to support her mother, siblings, and grandchildren.ā€

Nguyenā€™s death has been ruled a homicide.
