Mexican Ex-Prez Responds to Paying For Trump's 'Stupid' Wall: LOL Nah

Donald Trump, a horking mole-creature suffering from radioactive spray-tan, has promised throughout his entire campaign that if elected, his immigration policy will consist of a big-ass wall along the border that “Mexico will pay for.”

Of course that party line plays into xenophobic/racist fantasies of his base, but doesn’t actually show any semblance of either practicality or reality—particularly since a spokesperson for current President Enrique Peña Nieto shut his dumb idea down in August. “It reflects an enormous ignorance for what Mexico represents,” Eduardo Sanchez told Bloomberg, “and also the irresponsibility of the candidate who’s saying it.”

Now former President Felipe Calderón—no saint himself, but here right as hell—is lambasting this dumbass notion, one which Trump’s been touting for months. “Mexican people, we are not going to pay any single cent for such a stupid wall!” the ex-leader told CNBC. “If this guy pretends that closing the borders to anywhere either for trade (or) for people is going to provide prosperity to the United States, he is completely crazy.”

Oh my! But that wasn’t all. Calderón, who worked closely with both George W. Bush and Barack Obama on issues such as trade and the drug war during his tenure, is legitimately confused as to why this country is giving Trump airtime, as are so many of us:

“It is incredible that a quite admirable society like the American society could produce such kind of candidates,” Calderon said. “I cannot understand that. No offense, no offense to America. So Donald Trump … is ambitious but not exactly very well-informed man, I don’t want to say ignorant, but he is not very well informed.”

That last part is key, and goes beyond Trump’s making the kinds of racist statements that offend people of all races and ethnicities both here and abroad. The key to effective immigration policy in regards to México is understanding the reasons behind immigration—largely, the devastating drug war that’s been ongoing for a decade and has killed over 164,000 people estimated conservatively—and how American policy is so deeply intertwined with the circumstances that lead Mexicans to flee, dating as far back as NAFTA in the early 1990s.

Any strong, effective, smart immigration policy will take those nuances into consideration. So far none of the Republican candidates seem to have any inkling how to handle it. Donald Trump, a living blowhole with ham hocks for fists, is simply the dumbest.
