Illustration for article titled Mascara May Have Saved Teens Life

There's generally nothing good about contracting a nasty eye infection, but it may have saved one girl's life. 16-year-old Faye Archer of Harrogate, England only found out that she had Hodgkin's lymphoma when she sought treatment for an irritation caused by new mascara. "If I hadn't got the eye infection, I would never have had the tests and the cancer may not have been found in time," she says. Archer went to the doctor in September and her cancer was diagnosed in December. She underwent eight weeks of chemotherapy and now tests show the cancer is no longer in her system.
