The disease needs a new name to differentiate it from the "depression" that everyone feels at times.

Clinical depression is an unfeeling KILLER. Once there has been an episode, depression has an ugly penchant for returning. And with every fresh reoccurrence comes an increased likelihood that it will occur again. One is never free to live life as others do. It therefore requires constant vigilance to recognize an episode while in its early stages, and stop it. The stigma and shaming must be removed from this disease.

A terrible tragedy, and a prayer for the young man's family.
