Man Allegedly Assaults Wife For Not Liking His Facebook Status

Many have said Facebook’s “poke” function is pointless, but at least it hasn’t been at the center of any actual violence. Alas, the same cannot be said for the “like” function. Benito Apolinar of Texas was arrested last week and charged with battery for allegedly punching his estranged wife in the cheek over failing to “like” a post. After posting about the anniversary of his mother’s death, he drunkenly confronted his wife saying, “That’s amazing everyone ‘likes’ my status but you, you’re my wife. You should be the first one to ‘like’ my status.” He pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to appear in court in December.
