Mad Max Stunt Doubles for Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy Got Married

Extremely important news: A pair of stunt doubles who met on Mad Max: Fury Road are now married.

Stuff.co.nz reports (h/t the Mary Sue) on the happily-ever-after for Dane and Dayna Grant, who both worked stunts on the movie set in Namibia. Yes, Dane and Dayna. In fact that was Dane’s opener: “I saw her bag with her name on it and my opening line was literally, ‘Hi. I see you’re Dayna. I’m Dane’. That was about it.” A great argument for simplicity, Dane.

Ultimately, it was Jacob Tomuri who’d serve as Tom Hardy’s stunt double for filming. (You know, this smoking-hot dude.) But Dane played the part in rehearsals, which put him head-to-head with legit badass Dayna, who was Charlize Theron’s stunt double. Cue rainbows, hearts, glitter, the works:

“So the two of us were doing this – dare I say – very S&M-type fight, it’s a love/hate mixture between these characters. They’re very close, there’s chains, they’re holding each other in very intimate positions, and the longer we were doing it the more we’re kind of eyeing each other up,” Dane laughs, a little abashed.

“We’ve said it before and it’s quite cheesy, but it really was love at first sight. While we were punching each other we were falling for each other – quite rapidly.”

The pair have since married, had a child, and now run Dayna’s stunt school in New Zealand together. So you can just pack your meet-cute anecdotes away forever, thanks.
