Look At This Humpback Whale Jump Out of the Water With the Same Enthusiasm As You Jumping Into the Weekend

We have a lot of shark content at Jezebel, as they are the most misunderstood creature in the sea. But sometimes other special aquatic beings capture our attention. For instance, this humpback whale completely losing its mind over how sweet the ocean is.

Mashable reports that scuba diver Craig Capeheart took a boat off the southeastern coast of South Africa in early July. He and three other divers on the boat witnessed a humpback whale leaping with such joyful abandon that it propelled its 40-ton bod completely out of the water, momentarily defying everything we understand about whales being heavy:

In his description for the video, Capeheart says they were on the boat searching for groups of sardines and the “predators” they attract to film, but catching the breach was an unexpected bonus. It’s possible the whale was just throwing itself on top of a pile of sardines, but Capeheart suggests the behavior was an anomaly:

This video shows a humpback whale mother cow swimming with a calf. It shows an adult 40 ton whale on its back, slapping both its left and right fins on the water, then leaping entirely out of the water!

It seems that never before has a recording been made of an adult humpback whale leaping entirely out of the water! A very rare event, indeed.

Dolphins and even Great White Sharks have been seen flying out of the water, but this is a first for an adult humpback whale!

This whale is doing what we all want to do: momentarily leave all we know behind to reach out a fin and touch the face of God (eat high-protein snacks).
