Some good news out of the Brexit mess: Larry the Cat will retain his post as Chief Mouser at 10 Downing Street.
A government spokesperson told the BBC that, in fact, “It’s a civil servant’s cat and does not belong to the Camerons – he will be staying.” And Cabinet Office spokesman Benjamin Oliver told NBC News that, “Larry is staying. He’s very much the Downing Street cat, not the Camerons’ personal cat,” and, “He is a Downing Street legend.”
This explains why he looked so sleepily unconcerned as Theresa May and other Conservatives arrived for David Cameron’s final cabinet meeting. Add Larry to the long list of those who won’t miss that guy.
