Paris fashion week glides along with the Lavin spring 2014 collection, which was a shiny concept-heap of many varied silhouettes and styles, some of which seemed to be a highbrow take on Eurotrash — perhaps reified in the very beautiful shiny trashbag-style purses carried by some of the models (when asked about the purses after the show, for the record, Alber Elbaz deadpanned, “I don’t make garbage bags.”).

The one truly consistent facet of this show was the focus on fabrics: lamés, stains, brocades, etc. There was a very sumptuous focus on the tactile aspect of clothing, which ranged from golden jumpsuits (to be worn by the fanciest mechanic of all time!), to opalescent minidresses, to peasant skirts, to ultra-chic and modern sheath dresses.
