Lady Gaga Loves Terry Richardson Because He Finds Beauty In Urine

Lady Gaga says Terry Richardson photographed her “peeing in a cup” for the Lady Gaga photo book he’s working on. “I didn’t hold anything back from Terry. He was with me every minute, every moment. He has photographs of me waking up in the morning, brushing my teeth, in the bathroom, in the bathtub. And the thing about Terry, if you know anything about his photography, is that nothing is staged,” explains Gaga. “What I love so much about Terry is that he thinks everything is so beautiful. I’m always, ‘Oh Terry, get out of here,’ and he’s like, ‘Oh, it’s so beautiful, let me just shoot it.’ I felt so comfortable with Terry. I love him so much.” Not everyone reports feeling so “comfortable” in Richardson’s presence. [Gaga Daily]

Hey girl — Women’s Wear Daily thinks your boyfriend Ryan Gosling could use a little fashion advice. The allegation? “Instead of wearing the Gucci sample fresh off its spring 2012 runway (look #38 on the run-of-show), he perhaps should wait for the suit to be produced in his size.” [WWD]

Notice anything unusual about the ad for Calvin Klein‘s new fragrance, “Forbidden Euphoria”? Model Barbara Palvin looks kind of like she’s masturbating. Edgy. The press release lays it on thick: “inspired by forbidden desires and challenging passions, with appealing intoxicating notes that seduce from the first stroke.” [Fashionista, Fragrantica]

Karl Lagerfeld’s Macy’s collection includes dresses, tops, pants, accessories, and outerwear, all priced at $50-$170. The pieces are done mostly in black, white, and pink, and if you want to pick yourself up a pair of Karl biker gloves, or a Karl collar, now’s as good a time as any, we suppose. [Fashionologie]

  • More from Gwyneth, on GOOP — in case you haven’t unsubscribed already: “When you go to Paris and your concierge sends you to some…restaurant because they get a kickback, it’s like, No. Where should I really be? Where is the great bar with organic wine? Where do I get a bikini wax in Paris? People know that I know that…” [Elle]
  • In related news, rich people are buying more stuff these days, and they are spending their money without shame. Even though luxury prices are higher than they have been for some time (during the recession, a lot of brands cut their prices). “If a designer shoe goes up from $800 to $860, who notices?” asks a retail analyst. That question is intended to be rhetorical. It’s like jeez, chill out, take a long weekend in the Hamptons. [NYTimes]

  • EBay is launching an “online outlet mall” on September 19, as part of the auction site’s ongoing effort to play up its fashion business. $9.8 billion worth of apparel and accessories were sold on eBay last year. The new outlet site will mirror ones already in operation in the U.K. and Germany, and will feature brands including Neiman Marcus Last Call, William Rast, Timberland, and Brooks Brothers, each of which will have its own “storefront” on the site. Prices will be 20-60% off retail. [WWD]
  • A hairdresser, on the rooster-killing, fisherman-irritating, Ke$ha-spawned feathered hair extension trend, and all the grumpy old men who are sad about the rising price of lures: “Too bad for them for not planning ahead. A hair stylist doesn’t just keep one pair of scissors around.” [Fashionista]

  • The Observer has an interesting piece that asks the question, What’s the matter with Halston, anyway? Surrogates for Sarah Jessica Parker (the recently departed creative director of Halston Heritage) and brand owners Hilco Trading LLC trade jibes, and a guy who worked at Halston from 1999-2002 says the reason most designers who’ve tried to revive the brand haven’t lasted more than a season is, at least partly, the press. “A lot of [Halston] designers would take elements from the original designs, but when you did something different the press would attack. Meanwhile, Michael Kors can do a Halston-inspired line and the press will say, ‘Brava!’ A Halston designer would do it and press would say it was not inspired.” [NYObs]

  • The judge in the trademark infringement case brought by Christian Louboutin against Yves Saint Laurent has ruled in favor of Louboutin on the admissability of certain evidence submitted by YSL. The judge has not yet ruled on whether YSL’s red-soled shoes violate Louboutin’s trademark on the red sole. [WWD]

  • Richard Nicoll: “I like my work. But I kind of despise it as well. Sometimes it’s just the relentlessness of the schedule. It’s obviously quite pressured and quite stressful… This whole consumer demand for new, now and everything’s got to be renewed every few months… I think that’s got to implode at some point. For young brands, it’s getting impossible to continue making so many collections for the work to be worthy of showing.” [Vogue UK]
