We’re still mourning the loss of Samantha Bee on The Daily Show, but Kristen Schaal is thankfully still around, and she dropped by Tuesday night’s episode to talk about how great it is that “dadbod” is a thing. “Show off how your looks are not what society values most in you!” she said, commanding Jon Stewart to twirl for the audience.

“What a great day for men! It’s time society finally accepted that a man’s body changes when he has kids,” Schaal said, before airing clips of television hosts chuckling about the dads and their less-than-svelte bodies. “We’re all having a great belly laugh! (The guys are. If a woman had a belly they would not let her on that show.)“

This woman gives me great joy.

perhaps I am a humorless jerk who finds no jokes about physique funny ever, but I just get depressed by all of this. Yes, the way in which culture expects women to look and be is disgusting and sad. But, and this is equally important to me as a fat guy, there are just as many negative connotations for being a fat dude. I know talking about this, or complaining about it, is a bit like complaining to someone with two broken legs about a twisted ankle. I just wish, before my fat ass shuffles off this mortal coil, that we could get to a place where all bodies are loved and adored and cherished. We are not in that place now, and I don’t know if we’ll ever get there.
