Kesha was reportedly set to make a major statement during the Billboard Music Awards, but Dr. Lukeâs label blocked the performance from happening. Keshaâs mom is understandably irate.
The rumored âstatement performanceâ was presumed to be in reference to her lawsuit against Dr. Luke, but Kesha has since denied that it had anything to do with him. Instead, she says she planned to perform a cover of Bob Dylanâs âIt Ainât Me Babe.â
After Lukeâs label Kemosabe had the performance cancelled, despite approving it at first, Kesha wrote on Instagram: âI just wanted to make very clear that this performance was about me honoring one of my favorite songwriters of all time and has never had anything at all to do with Dr. Luke. I was never going to use a picture of him, speak of him or allude to my legal situation in any way. I simply wanted to sing a song I love to honor an artist I have always looked up to.â
Keshaâs mom let her frustration out on Twitter, writing: âHow much more public abuse does my daughter have to take before someone says âEnough is enoughâ!â And: âAre KEMOSABEâs actions today the actions of a record label that is trying to promote the success of their artist ?â Her tweets below.
