Justice Sotomayor Will Be the Boss of New Year’s Eve

New York’s famously crowded, noisy, and cold New Year’s Eve celebration finally has a maestro: Justice Sonia Sotomayor.

On Sunday, it was announced that Sotomayor, a Bronx native, will lead the 60-second countdown to midnight and depress the ceremonial button sending a giant crystal ball rocketing swiftly to the earth. Then, she’ll take pictures of everybody making out in Times Square, which she’ll put into a very large collage. It will take her YEARS to make this collage, but that’s the sort of dedication and initiative we can expect from from a Supreme Court justice.
