Jeb Bush Offers Heartfelt Condolences to a Grieving Nation: 'Stuff Happens'

Politics

Presidential candidate and living monogram Jeb Bush finally weighed in on yesterday’s tragedy at Oregon’s Umpqua Community College, offering those grieving the loss of nine lives the following emotional liniment: What’re ya gonna do?

For the sake of those worried John Ellis “Jeb” Bush is being taken out of context, here’s the full quote, from remarks the former Florida governor made today in Greenville, South Carolina (via The Guardian’s Ben Jacobs).

We’re in a difficult time in our country and I don’t think more government is necessarily the answer to this, I think we need to reconnect ourselves with everybody else… it’s very sad to see, and I resist this notion because we had this challenge as governor, stuff happens, there’s always a crisis and the impulse is always to do something and it’s not necessarily the right thing to do.

“Something” is not necessarily the right thing. Let’s go with the tried-and-true alternative that we definitely haven’t tried before: nothing. As they say: you gotta shoot a few chickens to make an omelet.
