A brief but oh-so-sweet, gentle lull: rich person in Trump’s extended circle uses riches to positively impact the lives of other people.

Joshua Kushner, brother of dour boy king Jared, has made a quiet contribution of $50,000 to “March For Our Lives,” the gun control march organized by the students of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, according to Axios. The teen survivors of a mass shooting asked for a ride to expose the unfeeling cruelty of adults in Washington, and he gave them some gas money. Is all.

The Trump presidential campaign reportedly benefitted from about $31 million in total from the NRA, $20 million on messaging attacking Hillary Clinton, and $11 million to indirectly support Trump, according to Open Secrets.

Joshua co-founded Oscar Health, a health insurance start-up oriented toward Obamacare enrollment, and has donated tens of thousands to Democratic candidates.

On Sunday, student activists of Marjory Stoneman Douglas published an open letter thanking businesses for divesting from the NRA and asking for more funds to help organize the March For Our Lives on Washington. They write:

We have had an extraordinary outpouring of generosity and have raised just over $3 million on our GoFundMe campaign. But it turns out marches are really expensive, and we want this march to be a seismic moment of change in this country.

And we don’t want it to be about us. We want it to be about all of the survivors — the schools and families who had to come before us - as well as honoring the innocent lives lost. The kids in Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore and other cities who live through a siege of gun violence EVERY DAY. The students around the country who don’t want it to happen to them next.

So please help us. Adopt a school in your area who wants to attend the March For Our Lives in Washington and pay for them to do it. Donate buses, flights, train tickets. Donate your time or your talent, or donate directly to March For Our Lives at www.marchforourlives.com.

But the protest, which is expected to draw thousands and will take place on March 24th, is not aiming at one political party or Kushner. 17-year-old student Cameron Kasky wrote in an op-ed for CNN: “The Republicans, generally speaking, take large donations from the NRA and are therefore beholden to their cruel agenda. And the Democrats lack the organization and the votes to do anything about it.”

Jezebel has reached out to representatives from Kushner’s venture capital firm and will update the post if we hear back.

Group B-raaaaaaaaaap!

I am enamored by the idea that, just maybe, Jared is the black sheep in the Kushner family for marrying someone so far below his station, and from such a trashy family. I’d also love to have a reality TV crew at their house for the next Thanksgiving dinner now that this cat is out of the bag.

Bonus points if Ma Kusher chides Jared for not marrying “a nice girl” anytime Ivanka leaves the room.
